31. Finding Joy through Gratitude

31. Finding Joy through Gratitude

Read time: 1 minute

What does it mean to be grateful? We have all heard this word expressed hundreds of times. But experiencing it requires a conscious effort. How many times have we said ‘thank you’ without actually feeling thankful?  Gratitude takes a conscious effort to see and acknowledge the positive outcome in something or someone.
When we start to experience more of the good things in life, our lives instantly become more joyful. Try these simple and rewarding daily practices and witness your life grow richer.

1. Try to thank one person every day for something. Be truly present as you acknowledge them.

2. Notice one thing throughout the day you are so thankful to have in your life.

3. While you are showering, give gratitude to at least one body part as you wash your body. For example:

  • I am grateful for my feet for allowing me to walk.
  • I am grateful for my eyes for allowing me to see my family and the world.

Having a hard time remembering to do these practices? Write them on a sticky note and place somewhere you’ll see (the bathroom mirror, your laptop or maybe inside your car)
