Read time: Under 2 minutes
Today is the Spring Equinox. This means everyone will experience almost 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. A perfect balance that only happens twice a year.
This got me thinking about the idea of balance. We all strive for balance in our life. Work-life balance, relationship balance, balancing calories and exercise, sleep….the list goes on. But what we often forget is that it’s not in the state of balance where we grow. We grow when life becomes unbalanced…when we are faced with adversary.
Think about the last time you learned something about yourself. Something that defined your character, your courage or your strength. Was that when life was balanced or were you going through something challenging?
We can’t enjoy the light without the dark. Let us not forget that for us to enjoy the balance in life, we need to appreciate the imbalances. Without them, we wouldn’t be who we are. Every challenge, every obstacle, every pain we’ve suffered has been a teacher that has taught us something about ourselves. May we pause this season and acknowledge our many teachers for giving us the chance to discover and grow.
