Read time: Under 2 minutes
Last year on my 46th birthday, I took time to acknowledge all of my experiences…not just the pleasant ones. I took time to give gratitude to my eating disorder, the miscarriages, the divorce, and many other difficult events I’ve experienced in my life because they made me who I am today. And I love who I am…even the messy parts. I am who I am because of these challenges.
That opened my eyes a bit because I started to understand that the struggles and challenges we face don’t happen TO us, but FOR us. And that is a huge distinction. Because once we understand that life happens for us and not to us, abundance and love pushes anger, resentment and regret aside. It opens the door to forgiveness. And…wow…I have had a couple powerful moments of forgiveness this year! Forgiveness is like a superpower! But unlike scaling walls or swinging from webs, every single one of us is born with this superpower! It’s inside each of us right now! So why do we make it so hard on ourselves? Why do we hold onto old crap and old grudges rather than forgive? I can promise you, letting go will liberate you from the weight you’ve been carrying around all this time. If you’re holding onto any old anger or resentment (of yourself or others), trust me when I tell you now is the time to release and forgive. This year I am giving myself the gift of forgiveness and I highly recommend it for everyone!
My wish for this year is that we continue to grow, learn, make mistakes, and forgive. Take a moment to love your 20 year old self…she was something wasn’t she! Send some love to the 30 year old you who worked so hard to keep it all together. And acknowledge yourself today…whatever age that may be…for showing up with the daily intention of loving yourself and those around you. Give a smile to a stranger today as a gift for me. I guarantee you’ll receive a gift in return when you do.
Thank you all so much for supporting and trusting in me. Getting to talk with you incredible women lights me up inside. I look forward to many more conversations about all things life.
